Jackson Community Medical Record (JCMR) was founded in 2005 when Allegiance Health and a small group of physicians exploring ambulatory electronic health records on separate parallel tracks recognized they could combine efforts. The CIO of Allegiance, Richard Warren, and the leader of the private physicians, Lynn VanWagnen, MD, shared a vision of creating a “community” record and pulling physicians together to leverage the cost of implementation and their contracting ability with payers.
The original group started with fewer than 20 providers of mainly primary care providers and a few specialties. Today, JCMR supports nearly 350 providers at locations throughout Southeast and Lower Michigan.
